Airport Day 2025 to Bring Pacific Aviation Leaders to Auckland
The two-day workshop, organised by Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID) and hosted by Auckland International Airport Limited, will take place on 18–19 September 2025 at the Novotel Auckland Airport.
A Regional Event with a Practical Focus
Airports in the Pacific face challenges that differ from those in larger regions. Many operate with limited resources, are geographically remote, and are exposed to increasing climate risks. Airport Day 2025 has been designed with these realities in mind.The programme will highlight four key areas: strengthening aviation security in line with ICAO standards, practical approaches to decarbonisation and net zero goals, building climate resilience into airport operations, and cooperation under the Pacific Regional Aviation Strategy.
What to Expect Across the Two Days
The event opens on Thursday, 18 September, with remarks from Auckland Airport CEO Carrie Hurihanganui and ACI APAC & MID Director General Stefano Baronci. Their addresses will underline the importance of regional collaboration and the role of ACI in supporting Pacific airports.The morning continues with a session on decarbonising aviation, featuring ACI’s Net Zero Roadmap and Airport Carbon Accreditation. Delegates will also hear from ACI’s World Business Partners and see examples of airport success stories, including a case study from Auckland Airport.
Later in the day, a panel discussion will bring together leaders from New Zealand, Fiji, French Polynesia, and Brisbane Airport to examine how airports and authorities can work together on the Pacific Regional Aviation Strategy.
The afternoon focuses on aviation security. Led by ACI’s Gary Leung and Rapiscan, this workshop will explore recent ICAO regulation changes, strategies to manage new threats, and how airports can strengthen security culture and use technology effectively.
On Friday, 19 September, the day begins with an overview of ACI’s training programmes and services designed for members in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East. This will be followed by a workshop on climate adaptation and resilience, presented by AECOM, which will share strategies to assess risks and protect airport infrastructure from extreme weather.
The final workshop will address regulatory compliance in airports with limited budgets and staff. Speakers from Bangalore International Airport and airsight will provide practical advice on managing safety and regulatory requirements in resource-constrained environments. The event closes with remarks from ACI APAC & MID.
